About workshop

This workshop is for anyone who wants to deepen their yoga practice by building strength, control, and awareness through their range of motion using a functional mobility approach.

You’ll learn the practical difference between flexibility and mobility, and why being flexible alone doesn’t necessarily protect your joints. Instead of passively stretching, we’ll focus on building an active, resilient and usable range of motion that your body can actually control and rely on in real life and in yoga practice.

This workshop follows the FRC® system which systematically expands your range of motion and teaches your nervous system how to control it. When a joint can’t produce force at a certain angle, you lose the ability to actively use that range and it becomes passive, untrainable, and from a functional perspective, useless. Because these passive ranges aren’t loaded or used, the tissues never develop strength there, which increases the risk of injury.

We’ll look at how these principles translate into yoga practice, helping you move more safely, reduce the risk of injury, and build a practice that supports long-term joint health.

Throughout the workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Learn how to include mobility practice in your yoga practice

  • Support long-term joint health

  • Improve control of your body and nervous system

  • Move freely, without pain with longevity as the goal

Is this workshop for you?

Whether yoga is your main form of movement, a complement to other activities, or simply a way to take care of your body, mobility will affect you at some point. Not just in your practice, but in everyday life.

Most of us spend a large part of our day sitting - at work, in the car, in front of screens. We bend over laptops, carry children, lift bags, rush through days with very little varied movement. Even if we practice yoga regularly, this daily reality slowly shapes our bodies.

As we age, our range of motion naturally decreases. This is part of being human. Look at children for comparison, they can squat easily, move freely on the floor, fall and get back up without much effort. Adults often lose this ability, not because they are weak or inactive, but because they lose active control of their joints.

Mobility isn’t just about stretching or holding poses. It’s about how well your body can adapt, stabilize, and respond in yoga, in daily movement, everyday life activities and in unexpected situations. It’s the difference between feeling flexible but fragile, and feeling strong, elastic and mobile.

If we want to continue practicing yoga, moving comfortably, carrying our daily loads, and living with less pain as we get older, mobility needs to be something we care for proactively, not when we are already injured or experience pain.

This workshop offers practical tools to help you restore and maintain healthy movement.

TINKARA OBLAK

Tinkara Oblak is a yoga teacher and licensed Functional Mobility Specialist (FRC®) with over 20 years of experience in movement. Her journey began in the world of professional dance and later expanded into exploring yoga and other movement styles. She currently practices functional mobility, strength training, Iyengar yoga and has a deep passion for handbalances and contemporary movement styles.

Drawing from years of exploration, her teaching combines dance, yoga, mobility, and contemporary movement to help people build strength, elasticity, and resilience in their bodies.
